After more than 20 years, Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway has returned to ITV for its last series before a protracted hiatus.
The Geordie pair competed in Ant vs. Dec, gave out holidays to the whole crowd, and even played a practical joke on Simon Cowell in the premiere episode of the hit show.
The last time the Britain’s Got Talent judge was pulled off was during the inaugural Saturday Night Takeaway hoax in 2003.

In their “biggest challenge” to date, the two were able to pull another practical joke on Cowell after twenty years.
A great trick was pulled on Saturday Night Takeaway by Simon Cowell.
In the most recent practical joke, fictitious police officers interrupted the BGT morning ride, accusing Cowell of violating traffic laws by riding on the wrong side of the road and of having a bike that didn’t satisfy Malibu color standards.
Ant and Dec continued the practical joke by surprising Cowell by showing up as two magicians’ assistants on America’s Got Talent.
Cowell was forced to perform the act, but when he was left imprisoned in the box, he felt that something had gone very wrong.
When Ant and Dec eventually admitted it was all a joke, the BGT judge was shocked and very irate.
As Cowell watched the behind-the-scenes footage of the hoax, he was laughing and crying at the realization that Ant and Dec were the ones behind it all.
Fans of the ITV program quickly shared their thoughts about the Cowell hoax on X, the official Twitter account.
