Olly Alexander ‘Dizzy’ Solo Eurovision Entry Takes Center Stage! Released on 1 March

Olly Alexander will compete for the United Kingdom in the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest, which will take place in Malmö, Sweden. His most recent solo single, “Dizzy,” which also serves as the UK’s official Eurovision 2024 entry, was just released.

Alexander wrote the song alongside techno producer Danny L Harle, hoping to convey the thrilling rush of a first love. The tune, which draws inspiration from 2000s dance hits, has a music video that eloquently captures the disorienting feelings expressed in the lyrics while obfuscating the boundaries between imagination and reality.

According to Alexander, the term “Dizzy” inspired a summertime composition session with Danny L. Harle, which gave rise to “Dizzy.” The song explores the deep feelings you get when someone completely upends your reality and sweeps you off your feet.

The song, which features swaying arpeggios, melodic harmonies, and counterrhythms, is meant to take listeners to a fantastical world of limitless time cycles and everlasting gardens. It draws inspiration from 80s superstars such as Pet Shop Boys and Erasure.

Mae Muller, the first competitor from the previous year, finished in 25th position, while Sam Ryder’s entry, “Space Man,” took second place.

Apart from releasing the song, Alexander is scheduled to feature in a special show called “Graham Meets Olly,” whereby Eurovision analyst Graham Norton will talk about Alexander’s trip to Sweden. The ‘Dizzy’ music video will also make its TV premiere at this occasion.
